Dermaplaning

Gentle Shaving to Rejuvenate Skin

Our licensed esthetician in Aurora is expertly trained to gently shave the skin’s outer surface using a process called dermaplaning. The gentle motion, performed with a sterile surgical scalpel, removes a thin layer of dead skin cells from the face as well as minimal amounts of peach fuzz (vellus hair). With the dead skin cells removed, the facial skin is prompted to trigger the regeneration process, resulting in a smoother, brighter appearance.

Unlike traditional methods of shaving, the dermaplaning process will not cause your facial peach fuzz to regrow thicker and darker. While the peach fuzz will return, it typically looks and feels the same as before the process. Dermaplaning can be repeated when necessary to maintain your appearance.

Skin Conditions Improved by Dermaplaning

Our dermaplaning process in Aurora can minimize the appearance of:

  • Fine lines
  • Acne scars
  • Facial peach fuzz

Skin Types for Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is should not be performed on skin with active acne. However, it is suitable for most skin types – even sensitive skin and pregnant women who have unwanted facial hair.

Dermaplaning is considered a minimally-invasive procedure. When you are researching your options for treatment it is important to choose a professional who has undergone extensive training in this process. Making the right choice for treatment is important to reduce the risk of complications or side effects such as bleeding, swelling or infection.

Recovery Times & Results for Dermaplaning

There is no downtime after a dermaplaning treatment. Although your skin may be a bit red, you should be able to return to your normal activities. We typically recommend that people have a dermaplaning treatment every 3-4 weeks to keep the skin smooth and hair-free.
